1. BReD, Whistler

BReD is THE place in Whistler for freshly baked, vegan sourdough bread, muffins, cookies, cinnamon buns and more! You can’t walk through Creekside Village without smelling the mouth-watering scent of their bread in the air. The owners, Ed and Natasha, started out making and selling sourdough bread, but the demand quickly grew, prompting them to open an 100% vegan bakery in Creekside. Their bread selection is unrivalled in the Vancouver area. You name it; they have it. Organic rye sourdough with seeds, 100% sourdough baguettes and mountain loaf with toasted almonds are just some of their specialties. They also sell organic frozen pizza dough, organic cinnamon buns, house-made hummus, cookies and an assortment of other products from local artisans. 

On top of that, they mill their own organic flour in-house. Everything at BReD is vegan, so you can just walk in and take your pick from all the delicious goodies that they have on hand. They’re always making new, tasty creations with locally sourced ingredients, so you never know what you’re going to get!

2. Bonus Bakery, Coal Harbour

Bonus Bakery is a vegan bakery in Vancouver, just blocks away from Coal Harbour. They are notorious for their vegan cookies and anything with sprinkles. They have a variety of sprinkle cakes, including full size, mini and cake in a jar. They also have sprinkle cookies and edible sprinkle cookie dough! They are always coming up with unique and interesting cookie flavours, so there is always something new to try. You can pre-order cookies and cakes for your next event or just pop into their primary location to see what they have fresh on the day. They also have partners around Vancouver that sell some of their products, such as Hive Café in New Westminster.

3. The Polly Fox, Abbotsford

The Polly Fox is not 100% vegan, but they definitely have the best selection of vegan baked goods in Abbotsford. Everything on their menu is gluten-free, and besides bakery items, they also have vegan sandwiches, vegan hot chocolate and even vegan “chicken” and waffles made with cauliflower. On their bakery menu, you’ll find vegan treats like donuts, apple fritters, Nanaimo bars, and blueberry oat bars. They also sell a selection of vegan focaccia and have vegan baguettes available by pre-order. If you find yourself east of Vancouver and passing through Abbotsford, then this is a great place to stop.

4. Fairy Cakes Vegan Cupcakes, Vancouver

Fairy Cakes is a 100% vegan and nut-free bakery serving Metro Vancouver delicious vegan cupcakes since 2012. They have different cupcakes flavours available every day, and you can pre-order with your favourite base and choose from over 30 different flavours of vegan icing. Beyond just cupcakes, they also have full-size fairy cakes available, vegan cheesecakes and coffee cakes! Fairy Cakes makes vegan ganache tarts and their signature Magic and Harlequin bars which contain toffee coffee, vegan marshmallow, cream cheese and some extra ingredients based on which one you choose. 5. Level V Bakery, Mount Pleasant

Level V Bakery specializes in vegan cakes and cupcakes for special occasions. If you have an event coming up, then it’s best to pre-order your cake, where you can choose from some of their signature options or customize your cake in the way you want it. They often have a selection of cakes available in the shop on the day if you need one last minute. Their most popular vegan cakes include double chocolate cake, crunchy chocolate peanut butter cake, tiramisu cake and earl grey cake. Edible Flours is a 100% vegan bakery in Vancouver that has many gluten-free and sugar-free options. They have a cozy space near Connaught Park but don’t be fooled by their tiny interior. There is magic happening inside their kitchen, which is open-concept so that you can see the bakers at work. All of their baked goods are subject to availability, so if you need something specific for an event or gathering, it’s best to order in advance. They stock a variety of freshly baked items at all times, including spinach and artichoke rolls, lemon blueberry loaf, brownies, cookies and cupcakes.
